Taking Organizational Culture Seriously

A good friend of mine sent this over and I found it to be a fascinating and helpful read.  It is a presentation on Corporate Culture in Netflix.  In particular, I liked its emphasis on managing poor or even average performance out of the organization – what may be the rarest skill I see in the organizations with whom I work.  Enjoy.

A very interesting look at a corporate culture. I found the most interesting part was the idea of managing via context instead of via control – put your team into a context where they will make the best decisions and be engaged in their role as opposed to just instructing them exactly what to do. Seems simple when you see it, but managing “by control” tends to be much more common, probably because it is much easier.
